Tips to prep your plumbing for winter

Turn off and drain your outside faucets also known as sillcocks or hose bibs. These should be shut off via a valve in  the basement  or access panel     if you have no basement. The valve would be located close to where the faucet is located outside. If you have a frostproof sillcock, you needn't shut it off in the basement or access panel. Just be sure the faucet isn't dripping when not in use. If so the faucet will need repair. Remove all hoses and drain them down before storing.Be sure to protect any waterlines that have frozen in previous years. Any waterline close to outside walls could be susceptible.
